Opaque Transparency: Sen. Collins Submits 2 Names For U.S. Attorney In Maine

PPH reports “Sen. Susan Collins said she has forwarded the names of two candidates for the U.S. attorney job in Maine to the Trump administration.

Collins declined to identify the two, but said “they are both highly qualified, in my view.”

Maine District U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty resigned last Friday, one of dozens of U.S. attorneys appointed by President Obama who were asked to step down.

Collins formed a committee in January to review potential nominees for political posts in Maine. The eight-member panel was headed by Josh Tardy, a Newport lawyer and former Republican leader of the Maine House of Representatives. Tardy was also chair of Trump’s presidential campaign in Maine.”

The Future of Congress

Written by Dennis Michael Lynch

“I can guarantee you three things on Election Day:

1) The sun will rise in the east.

2) The sun will set in the west.

3) Ilhan Omar, the 33-year-old Somalian refugee who believes in Sharia Law, will be the first female Muslim to be elected to congress.

Yes, I know there are a few weeks until Election Day, but her victory is a lock — she will win as a Democrat because there is no Republican running against her.  The GOP candidate suddenly withdrew from the race without any warning, and it was too late for Republicans to find a viable replacement.”  Read more HERE.

Your Elected Members Of Congress At Work….Telemarketing?

CBS News – 60 Minutes: “The following is a script from “Dialing for Dollars” which aired on April 24, 2016.”

“The American public has a low opinion of Congress. Only 14 percent think it’s doing a good job. But Congress has excelled in one way. Raising money. Members of Congress raised more than a billion dollars for their 2014 election. And they never stop.

Nearly every day, they spend hours on the phone asking supporters and even total strangers for campaign donations — hours spent away from the jobs they were elected to do.

[David Jolly 2014 special election victory speech: Tonight is not about claiming victory. Tonight is about committing to service.]

Florida Republican David Jolly won a special election to Congress in March 2014. Facing a reelection bid that November, he was happy to get a lesson in fundraising from a member of his party’s leadership. But he was surprised by what he learned.

Rep. David Jolly: We sat behind closed doors at one of the party headquarter back rooms in front of a white board where the equation was drawn out. You have six months until the election. Break that down to having to raise $2 million in the next six months. And your job, new member of Congress, is to raise $18,000 a day. Your first responsibility is to make sure you hit $18,000 a day.”

Can we put our faith and belief into Maine’s Senators Susan Collins and Angus King’s Pursuits?

PPH reports “Maine senators seek help against heroin epidemic on two fronts.”

“U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King brought Maine’s heroin problem to Capitol Hill this week, looking to bolster both the military’s efforts to stem the supply of the drug and treatment professionals’ work to curb demand.

King on Wednesday raised the issue at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, pressing the admiral nominated to lead the armed forces of the U.S. Southern Command about what more the military might do to stop importation of the deadly drug.

Collins on Tuesday asked a panel of treatment experts what more the federal government could do to bring together law enforcement and treatment options along the lines of Scarborough’s Operation HOPE or Project Save ME in Oxford County, in which users can turn themselves in without fear of arrest and police and their partners will try to locate drug treatment for them.

Collins, a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, requested the hearing on opioid abuse in America to raise awareness among fellow legislators about the issue and possible solutions.

“There is increasing interest on Capitol Hill on really tackling this problem because more and more senators are hearing from law enforcement in particular from their states that they can’t solve this problem by just arresting all the people who are using drugs,” Collins said Friday in a statement. “There needs to be a more coordinated approach to the issue.”

Like many other rural states, heroin addiction is surging in Maine.

Is this another “looks good-feels good” to the public?

Former Governor Angus was hand-delivered this video. He did nothing!

The assistance of Senator Susan Collins was sought in obtaining a full investigation into criminal activity. She did nothing!

After you came to the office last week, Ashley and I reviewed the materials you gave to her. It is clear that this is a criminal matter and our office cannot be involved in any way due to the separation of powers established by the United States Constitution. We appreciate having you inform us of this situation, but there is nothing more we can do in regards to this matter.

The Hill reports “Former House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tried to crash former Hillary Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal’s deposition before the House Select Committee on Benghazi on Tuesday.
