Who will Governor Paul LePage replace Bowen with?

Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt, former Senior Policy Advisor, U.S. Department of Education is Maine’s only hope! Her expertise and decades of research proves that Governor LePage must keep his word and seek out the “brightest and best” for his administration.

Charlotte, has Governor LePage approached you? We want to know.

(update) Maine Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen Resigns

Per Charlotte Iserbyt, “please forward my message to Jack McCarthy and ALL”:

“I don’t know if I have ever been more disgusted by education politics in Maine.  LePage, Bowen, Maine Heritage, et al are plain _______.  I don’t know what adjective to use to describe my feelings about these individuals affecting our children’s futures.

It appears they can only be in their jobs to make piles of money.

I’ve been involved in education in Maine for forty years and this state has NEVER had people in charge of our children’s future like these evil types.  I am appalled.

Maine Heritage should be kicked out of this state.  What right does it have to come in to our state and create such drastic change in the way we run our political, economic and education systems?

How many Mainers know that its parent group, Heritage Foundation, D.C., which has affiliates in almost all states,
DRAFTED THE NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT WHICH CAUSED MAINE TO LOOSE SO MANY OF ITS GOOD JOBS…its shoe industry, etc., etc.

And Mainers are supposed to embrace Maine Heritage’s policies regarding our children?

I am disgusted to the ‘nth degree.

When will Maine wake up?”

******

BDN reports “Maine Education Commissioner Stephen Bowen announced Friday that he will resign effective Sept. 12 to take a job with the national Council of Chief State School Officers, according to a statement from Gov. Paul LePage.

Bowen, who was appointed by LePage in March 2011, will be the organization’s strategic initiative director of innovation and oversee its Innovation Lab Network.”

“Bowen in his resignation letter, “I firmly believe in the reform work we are doing here in Maine and I am confident that the reforms we have advanced, both in terms of education policy and in terms of how the Department of Education does its work to support schools and students, will lead to improved student outcomes.”  Read more, click here.

Here are some comments received:

Lise: ” I am currently an elected school board member, and these charter schools, if they dominate in this state (Maine), would eliminate my elected position.”

Jack: “Bowen is quitting to take his UN agenda common core on the road. That’s the same common core that the Governor says we don’t have, we just used the same terminology. So the socialist agenda Bowen brought in via the criminals from Florida endorsed by our Gov. , we now have in place, as Paul LePage says we are not using common core we just call it that. So Steven Bowen, placed by the heritage foundation Tarren Bragdon moves up to the UN operative level and we are stuck with the mess, I told Gov.Paul LePage that Bowen had no idea what the 10th amendment meant but I was WRONG HE NEW EXACTLY AND WAS SENT TO FURTHER DESTROY OUR REPUBLIC. Thanks Gov. Paul Lepage”
