RONALD REAGAN LIBRARY DOCUMENTATION REGARDING PRESIDENT REAGAN’S DESIRE TO MEET WITH CHARLOTTE THOMSON ISERBYT, FORMER SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR, U.S. DEPT. OF EDUCATION, 1981-1982

It is important that as many Americans as possible have access to information in this 8-page packet sent to Charlotte from the Ronald Reagan Library in response to her recent request for information regarding “what happened to my letter to President Reagan regarding the need to abolish the U.S. Dept. of Education?”

Americans concerned over the deplorable situation in education should see the handwritten note from the President to the White House Chief of Staff Edwin A. Meese III stating he wanted to meet with her. Her letter and the President’s note to Meese were evidently thrown in the trash, thereby laying to rest the promise made by Reagan to abolish the Dept. of Education.
